With hundreds of panels,A Fair Haired Woman Who Spins And Pulls Out screenings, and networking events (yikes!) to choose from, it’s easy to find yourself exhausted and overwhelmed at SXSW.
Enter: The 2018 Mashable House.
This year, Mashable invites you to indulge in the nostalgia. Why? Because as Ferris Bueller once said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

So plan on taking some time out of your weekend to swing by the Mashable House. We’ll be mixing those #MashHouse classics -- like the MashBash, temporary tats, and our kickass speakeasy -- with some new surprises that make Mashable, well, Mashable.
Chillax at the Mashable House with La Quinta. Why not take a load off your feet and recharge? Cozy up to the fireplace and spread-out on plush seating. We even have an onsite local expert to help hook you up at restaurants, pedicab rides or must-see SXSW panels. Have a last minute networking opportunity with a potential client? You can also reserve this space for your meeting.
Take a classic ‘80s arcade, sprinkle 30 years of tech innovation, and BOOM -- you’ve got yourself a Mashable House VR-cade!
Sure, you’ll be able to break your high-score on classics like Galaga andDonkey Kong, but not before you trying your hand at the latest virtual reality experience, Humble Piefrom SunnyBoy Entertainment. This first-person VR satire game will transport guests to the White House Oval Office where they’ll be tasked at delivering a slice of humble pie to...well, ya know.
See below to preview some of the other virtual reality experiences we’ll have at the Mashable House VR Bar:
Dispatch, Here Be Dragons
IT: Escape from Pennywise, SunnyBoy Entertainment
Manifest 99, Flight School
The Surrogate, VR Playhouse
The Mashable House has always celebrated the best of Internet culture; and as of late, no one has been delivering better clap backs on Twitter than Wendy’s(watch the throne, @chrissyteigen!). This year’s Mashable House will be honoring some of Wendy’s best Twitter interactions in our “Fresh Beef Hall-of-Fame."
And while Mashable and Wendy’s will keep serving up our hot takes online, Mashable House guests will be keepin' it fresh IRL by creating GIFs that are simply "too fresh to be frozen".
Need an escape from reality? Of course you do!
Mashable’s creating the courtyard of your childhood dreams, bringing you the doctor-recommended dose of good vibes you’ll need all weekend long.
Get a taste of the good ol’ summertime as sand sculptor Joaquin Cortezbrings the beach to central Texas right in the Mashable House! Guests will also be able to experience SpinFX’s modern take on the classic hula hoop.
With the world in the state that it's in, we all could use some emotional support. We kept the peacockat home this year, but our friends at the Austin Humane Societyare bringing you the doggies and pups we so desperately need. And for those of us not yet ready for the responsibility of a real dog, WowWee’s CHiPand Chippierobo-dogs will bring you the same level of joy, without the fear of an accident.
And if you’re not yet ready to face the world, hide out in the Mashable House adult-sized pillow fort.
CALLING ALL HOT WHEELS DAREDEVILS!
Think you’ve got what it takes to crush the Minute to Win ItChallenge? Mashable and Hot Wheels are challenging you to put your skills to the test at the Mashable House! Check out our custom-built track where we are combining two fan favorites: outrageous Hot Wheels action with classic skee-ball fun!
Should you accept the challenge, you’ve got one minute to customize the skee-ball ramp, launch your die-cast car into the track build, and sink it into the winning skee-ball hole. And check it - if you post your epic success (or your missing-with-style fail) and challenge your friends, you could win some awesome prizes (no, really, they’re pretty cool!). Let’s see what you’ve got, SXSWers!
Cryptocurrency is all the rage this SXSW (& like everywhere), and the Mashable House is where you can cash in! We are never one to miss a trend, so this year at SXSW we are bringing you… MASHCOINS! Deposit your MashCoins in exchange for a Mashable House cocktail (If you are 21+, that is). Or, channel your inner Scrooge McDuck by taking a dip into our bitcoin ballpit. We’ll have Sharingboxon site to capture every minute of it!
One of SXSW’s most coveted hangouts is the Mashable House Easter Egg Speakeasy where folks come for the private bar, and stay for the awesome people! Beyond that, speakeasy guests will get to experience Klaxoon, a revolutionary approach to meetings and collaboration. Interact with Klaxoon activities on Meeting Board, and you may be able to earn your way into the Speakeasy; so keep an eye out for these bad boys throughout the House, and maybe even on the streets of Austin.
Every year, Mashable closes out the Interactive weekend with a double-header -- Mashable House by day, MashBash by night. This year’s stage will feature sets from Taiwo Hassan of the international DJ duo Christian Rich, and Brooklyn’s own MICK! We've got you covered with booze and sweet tunes, but will rely on you to capture the night's best moments with the world's first selfie ball, EYE by Hypno (because what happens at the MashBash, won't stay at the MashBash).
Keep up with all that’s going on at this year’s House by following @MashableEventson Twitter. Make sure you’re on the 2018 guestlists, and RSVP now!
