Jaguar is Watch A Female Employee Who Gives Permission For Things From The Manager Onlinejoining the revolution with its first all-electric vehicle coming out later this year.
The Jaguar I-PACE made its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this week, and car lovers everywhere are already freaking out. The vehicle has a 90-kilowatt battery that powers the engine for up to 240 miles (only slightly less than the 295-mile range of the Tesla Model X.) The I-PACE will be shown at the New York International Auto Show later this month and will be available in the U.S. during the second half of this year.
The new vehicle joins the PACE series, a family of SUVs including the smaller E-PACE and SUV sports car F-PACE.
Also revealed Tuesday was the pricing for the four-door battery-powered vehicle: $69,500 to start. Compare this to the Tesla electric SUV, the Model X, which starts around $82,000. The I-PACE boasts 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Tesla equivalent used to take 6 seconds and was upgraded to 4.9 seconds, but reaches a top speed of 130 mph, while the I-PACE only makes it to 124.
While comparing the two, Jaguar's charging infrastructure falls behind Tesla's robust network. But at home charging options include a 100kW charger that reaches an 80 percent charge in 40 minutes. Jaguar Land Rover is building out a network of electricians to help EV owners install home chargers and upgrade to faster equipment -- a program Tesla already offers in some states.
Away from home, Jaguar and Land Rover are building out new facilities in the next five years with a $1.5 billion investment. Already there are 207 Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships across the U.S. -- those will also get an electric upgrade. It looks like the British carmaker is going all-in on electric.
