Older than Woodstock or Glastonbury, Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) is an 11-day immersive experience for all ages that has been running continuously since 1968. Where else will you find a mix of rising artists and legendary music icons across all genres and styles, on 10 stages located on historical UNESCO World Heritage sites in an urban setting? This is no camping festival. With more than 6,500 hotel rooms nearby, ranging from 3 to 5 star, there is no shortage of comfortable and accessible options for fans who travel from over 34 countries to party with the locals. The 2019 line-up includes bands as diverse as Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots, Blink-182, Diplo and Kygo, alt-J, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mariah Carey, Buddy Guy, and The Strumbellas.

Dine and dance all night long at District Saint-Joseph

When Québec City’s chic crowd want food, music and dancing in one hip location, they head to District Saint-Joseph. Located in lower Québec City, this restaurant, bar, and intimate music venue is as beloved for its comfort food and happy hour as it is for its two house bands. You can dance until dawn any night of the week at District St-Joseph. On Tuesday’s Open Jam night, musical guests share the stage with the first house band and throw down some serious reggae, funk and hip hop beats. The Edwin-Bélanger Bandstand (or “kiosque à musique” in French) hosts free concerts featuring renowned artists from Thursday to Sunday on most weekends, beginning mid-June through mid-August. Bring a chair and sit amidst the trees in this unique setting in the heart of the Plains of Abraham National Battlefield Park. Or pack a picnic, spread out on a blanket, and gaze up at the sky while listening to some tunes. The diverse lineup includes performances by pop, rock, blues and world beat artists.

At the intimate and low-lit Bar Ste-Angèle in the heart of Old Québec, there is live jazz music every night of the week from 8pm to 3am; while British-style Pub Saint-Alexandre puts on a jazz, blues, and folk pop shows most evenings.
