The Farabi (2020) Feneo Original Web Seriesrumored overhaul of Apple's laptops apparently extends to the MacBook Air.
Last week, a report said that Apple plans to bring the MagSafe magnetic charging connector to its MacBook Pro, alongside more ports and physical keys instead of the digital Touch Bar.
Now, Bloomberg claims that Apple's MacBook Air is getting a similar treatment. According to the report, the new MacBook Air will be thinner and lighter than the current version, and will have a MagSafe connector alongside two USB4 ports. It will also have a next-generation version of Apple's in-house processor.
The new MacBook Air will likely be pricier than the current version, and is expected to arrive in the second half of 2021 or in 2022.
The report says Apple also considered building a bigger, 15-inch MacBook Air, but those plans were scrapped — for now.
Bloomberg also shared some new details about what's coming to the new, redesigned MacBook Pro, scheduled to launch this year. According to the report, the MacBook Pro will once again get an SD card slot, which was removed from the Pro in 2016.
SEE ALSO: The death of Apple's Touch Bar is long overdueFinally, Bloomberg says Apple has developed some interesting new features for the Macs, including cellular connectivity and Face ID support, though neither of those are coming to any of the Macs soon.
The rumored changes to the MacBook Pro and Air are uncharacteristic for Apple, as they mostly consist of bringing back old features, which Apple rarely does.
It's hard to put a number on it, but many Apple users (me included) pine for some of these features — the SD card reader is useful to photographers and journalists, for example, and the MagSafe is just generally a good feature as it saves your MacBook from falling from the table when you trip on its cable. As always, none of these features have officially been confirmed by Apple, so we'll truly believe them when we see them.
