Fortnite,Watch Take Turns Tasting With College Alumni Online arguably the most popular game in the world right now, is being sued by the team behind PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG).
PUBG Corporation, the team behind PUBG, filed a lawsuit in South Korea against Fortnite developer Epic Games, The Korea Timesreported Friday. The lawsuit suggests that Fortnite, specifically the Battle Royalemode, violates PUBG's copyright, which came out six months earlier.
"We filed the suit to protect our copyright in January," an official from PUBG Corporation told The Korea Times.

Well, the future is now.
It's hard to ignore the similarities between the two games. Both are in the battle royale genre of multiplayer games and have very similar formulas: players drop down from a vehicle in the sky onto an island and have to run around collecting weapons and trying to take down other players. As the game progresses, the playable area shrinks smaller and smaller, and anyone outside that area takes damage until they die. The last player standing is the winner.
The two games have different artistic styles, different weapons, and different maps to play in, but the core concept is the same. Epic Games even cited PUBGand its predecessor H1Z1: King of the Kill(made by the same lead designer as PUBG) as inspiration for Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Both games have been wildly successful, but it seems that Fortnitehas pulled ahead in the popularity contest, regularly garnering the most viewers on streaming services like Twitch and breaking records on consoles.
Neither Epic Games nor PUBG Corporation immediately responded to a request for comment.
