A source told HuffPost that Trump was the one who called Sen. Corker last week and asked him to reconsider his decision to retire. Sen. Corker had announced his retirement in September.

All this Twitter back-and-forth came days after Sen. Corker criticized Trump's behavior.
"I think Secretary Tillerson, Secretary Mattis, and Chief of Staff Kelly are those people that separate our country from chaos," Sen. Corker told reporters at Capitol Hill Wednesday, referring to the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and White House Chief of Staff, respectively.
Trump's tweetstorm also came shorty after White House budget director Mick Mulvaney spoke on on NBC's "Meet the Press" and said it would be "fun to work [with Corker] especially now that he's not running for re-election, because I think it sort of unleashes him to do whatever — and say whatever — he wants to say."
