On April 22,dark eroticism Samsung officially delayed the launch of its upcoming folding phone, the Galaxy Fold, due to a string of reports from reviewers whose units have malfunctioned.
At that time, the company said it would announce a new release date "in the coming weeks."
Seven and a half weeks later, the Galaxy Fold still doesn't have an official launch date. To make matters worse, Tom's Guide reports that AT&T has now started canceling pre-orders for the device.
The outlet placed a pre-order for the Fold through AT&T, and received a cancellation notice on June 12. "Unfortunately, Samsung delayed the release of the Fold, which means we can't ship your phone and have to cancel your pre-order," the notice said.
The notice also said customers will be able to place a new order once Samsung announces a new release date for the Fold. Furthermore, customers who've pre-ordered the Fold will get an AT&T Promotion Card with a value of $100 within 60 days.
The Galaxy Fold is a $1,980 smartphone with a foldable display -- a first for Samsung -- and top-notch specs. Unfortunately, several reviewers had troubles with their units, with some of the Folds even malfunctioning completely, prompting Samsung to delay the launch. And while several reports indicated that Samsung has solved the issues that plagued the early Fold, we're still waiting to see an updated unit or get a new launch date.
We've contacted Samsung about AT&T's cancellation and will update the article when we hear from them. So far, whenever we asked, Samsung has stuck to its original answer: The launch date will be revealed "in the coming weeks."
